Kyro Original Hat - Frozen Blue by Myssy

This frozen blue Kyrö Original beanie is hand-knitted by Myssy Grannies in Pöytyä Finland from 100% Finnsheep wool. The yarn is hand-dyed and due to the dyeing process there may be a slight variation in the colors.

Note! Kyrö Original is initially very tight, but it stretches after a little use. You can fold the edge once or twice. Please note that when folded twice, the Myssy is tighter.

Our new fluffy beanie has sophisticated soft Finnsheep wool surface that has been carded with traditional methods here in Pöytyä. 

The very first Myssy was made by Janne, a former professional windsurfer, who was stubborn, enough to learn how to knit his own hat. After touring the world for years, Janne returned home and found the love of his life: Anna, a designer born in Pöytyä, the same rural county as him, and the Myssy story was born.

Every Myssy is knitted by a real Myssy Grandma in Pöytyä, Finland.  They get their unique hand-dyed yarn from a local herd of Finnsheep. Everything is organic and original in their farm.  In Pöytyä the tradition for craftsmanship has passed from one generation to another in farm families for centuries.

All Myssy garments are made from Finnsheep wool, produced in conjunction with their responsible partners. Similar in softness to Merino, the fiber's overlapping scales point inward making the yarn particularly soft, and in our opinion, there is no finer wool in the world!

The yarns are spun on their home turf in Finland in the few remaining spinning mills as well as hand-dyed here at their farm. The delicate process preserves the wool’s natural grease, lanolin, which makes Myssy's products naturally water and dirt resistant.  In order to guarantee the organic status of their products, traceability and transparency of their wool production are important steps in the process.  All wool is purchased directly from EU Certified Organic farms monitored by Finnish officials. 

While their small-scale production volumes do not currently meet the need for international certification, all of Myssy's processes fill GOTS certification requirements and their spinning mill uses a maximum of 5% of conventional Finnsheep wool in the Myssyfarmi yarn production. No toxic processing inputs or other harmful chemicals are used in the production, storage, or handling of Myssyfarmi yarns.
